As simple as au jus is, it adds the perfect finishing touch to your prime rib dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ½ shallot finely chopped
  • 1 ½ tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cans beef consommé you should be able to find it with all of the other canned soups
  • ¼ cup drippings from your prime rib

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter on low in a large skillet.
  • Add chopped shallots to the butter, turn heat to medium and saute for a couple of minutes until softened.
  • Add flour to the butter and shallot mixture and cook a minute longer.
  • Pouring consommé in a slow stream, whisk sauce until it comes to a bubble.
  • Once roast is done, add drippings and whisk to incorporate.
  • Simmer over low heat until ready to serve along side your prime rib.
