Ingredients
- 2 oz Bourbon (We suggest Garrison Brothers)
- 1 oz Cointreau (Do NOT substitute, you will be disappointed!)
- 2 dashes Walnut Bitters
- 1 dash Cherry Bitters
Instructions
- Add bourbon, Cointreau and bitters to cocktail shaker
- Add 1/4 cup of ice pellets (cubes) to cocktail shaker and shake well
- Strain liquid into a lowball/rocks/old fashioned glass over clear ice block/sphere
- Garnish with an Amerena cherry and a twist or knot of orange peel
Notes
There are, of course, MANY variations on the old fashioned. To make it a little less sweet, reduce the amount of Cointreau by 1/4 oz. Experimenting with different bitters (brands and flavors) is also a fun way to mix it up. If a Rye, or high-rye bourbon is your thing, it can add a bit of spice that I find appealing as we get closer to the holidays and cooler weather. Experiment! What is the worst thing that can happen, you have to make another drink???
