Minty Chocolate Fudge Puppy Chow

Leprechaun Loot. Leprechaun Chow. Leprechaun Bait.  Whatever you call it, it’s time to make some!  This fun twist on “puppy chow” will make anyone’s St. Patty’s day a little luckier. Both adults and kids will love this recipe!

For the Chocolate Fudge Puppy Chow

Microwave in 30 second intervals.

Minty Chocolate Fudge Puppy Chow

Stir until smooth then add vanilla.

Mix until cereal is evenly coated.

Seal bag and shake! shake! shake!

For the Minty Puppy Chow

Microwave in 30 second intervals then stir.

Add mint and food coloring.

Seal bag and shake like you mean it.

Tips for this recipe

  • When microwaving the chocolate don’t microwave more than 90 seconds.  If you go too long it will begin to solidify and there is no going back. Ask me how I know. 😉
  • Use a large spatula to gently stir the cereal and chocolate without crushing any.
  • Eat them separately or mix the fudge and mint together to customize your experience.
  • Get creative and add in some green M & M’s or marshmallows from a box of Lucky Charms when serving.
  • Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
  • Made more than you needed?  You can store it in the freezer in an airtight container for up to three months.

Ingredients
  

Chocolate Fudge Puppy Chow ingredients:

  • 5 cups Chex Rice Cereal
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup your favorite brownie mix

Minty Puppy Chow ingredients:

  • 5 cups Chex Rice Cereal
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tsp coconut oil
  • ½ to 1 tsp mint extract depends on how strong you like it
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • green food coloring as much as needed to get desired color
  • nonpareils optional

Instructions
 

Chocolate Fudge directions:

  • Measure cereal and place in a large bowl.
  • In a microwavable bowl, microwave semi-sweet chips, peanut butter and butter on high for 30 second intervals, stirring in between each, for no more than a total of 90 seconds.
  • Stir until smooth. Stir in vanilla.
  • Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated.
  • Pour into a 1 gallon resealable bag.
  • Add brownie mix. Seal bag and shake until well coated.

Minty directions:

  • Measure cereal and place in a large bowl.
